About the event
"The quality of your relationships determines the quality of your life." Esther Perel
The way we speak and the way we hear what others say matters to our wellbeing, our relationships, and the joy we experience.
If you struggle with:
● repeating the same old, painful patterns in conversations with your partner, friends, colleagues;
● having more conflict than you enjoy;
● knowing how to have honest conversations without guilt, shame or blame;
● asking for what you really want…
Then join Anna for this one day hands-on workshop. It’s designed for anyone who cares about having more harmony, joy and openness in relationships. The basis of our work will be foundations of Nonviolent Communication (NVC)
You will be gently guided to:
● say what you really mean;
● listen with empathy;
● understand why you feel the way you do, and what to do about it;
● practice making effective requests;
● have difficult conversations;
● walk through conflicts with a bit more ease;
● manage your own reactivity;
● unpack and understand foundational concepts and tools of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), and
● implement Nonviolent Communication (NVC) into your life.
This is a practical, hands-on workshop. We will spend a bit of time learning new NVC concepts or processes and lots of time practising them in pairs, threes and small groups.

About event organiser - Maddie Stanley
Maddie is a Whanganui local, and mum to too spirited girls. She first encountered NVC at a week-long training in Poland in 2009. Previous attendees say:
I've thoroughly enjoyed this course. I'm finding that pausing before I react is a bit more accessible than it was, which is awesome. I'm feeling really proud of myself that I am able now to notice my anger and unpack it, rather than run the other way." (Sophie)
"Thanks to this course I've been really able to notice the dynamics in some of my relationships and reflect on that, as well as recognise and implement some boundaries.I really appreciated your knowledge, Anna, and everyone's vulnerability and authenticity. Also, the work I did within your course and the learning you provided has been so beneficial to my clients in their counselling sessions with me and in their lives too." (Westerly)
"What a cool thing to be in a room with people doing their work - that fel really special and not at all what I was expecting, so it has also been a beautiful surprise for me. NVC feels like a tool that can give me power and courage." (Sarah)
"I signed up to this course because my friend was raving about it and now I understand why she was raving about it. I've learnt so much and am amazed how useful all of this is in my daily life." (Jess)
"I have been thinking lots about possibilities of using the skills we learnt, considering when I'm going to use them, and then I've been noticing 'oh I just used it without even realising it!' which is pretty amazing. It feels like all the things I thought were going to be really hard about implementing it are actually not that hard." (Tim)
"I could not believe how much intimacy, support and companionship can happen in an online course! I learnt heaps through being part of this, thank you!" (Emma)
"This course was life-changing. I can now change the way I speak to myself and others, and to pause before I lose my shit. And all learnt in such a great community. Thank you Anna for your gentle, humorous, honest leadership and guidance" (Helen)
