About the event
The parent-child connection is the most powerful mental health intervention known to mankind. (Bessel van der Kolk)
If you’d like:
- More harmony in communicating with your children;
- Tools to move from anger, annoyance, irritation to connection and joy;
- Ways to support your child when they experience big feelings;
- Simple tools to create more dialogue and less yelling.
Come along to this one day, hands-on workshop. We will explore simple steps and tools based on Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and see how they can be useful in your home and for your family.
You will be gently guided to:
- Be able to hear what your child is saying, no matter how they express it;
- Transform anger into connection;
- Pause and deeply listen to yourself to uncover what is important for you;
- Set boundaries without feeling like the police in your home;
- Find ways of communicating that bring you ease and joy.
Expect to:
- take an active part
- share your own experiences
- play with ideas and strategies, in a group setting
- walk away with insights, tools and ideas to try at home
- feel recharged: knowing all care-givers struggle with difficult emotions

"The course was completely practical. I went away able to make tangible changes in how I interact with my children in everyday challenging situations. Ania beautifully brings the material to life. She challenges you to practice using the tools in a safe environment so you can go home and really use them with your family." (Sasha, Wellington)
"Exploring tools for connection with my kids alongside other parents made it so easy and fun. i feel like I walked away with lots of hope, heaps of new tools, and more capacity to slow down instead of yelling! Thanks so much!!" (Abby, Kapiti coast)
